Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) received an Accreditation Audit Visit for Engineering Programmes by the Engineering Accreditation Council (EAC) on 5 to 6 November 2025, involving two programmes:
1. Bachelor of Engineering (Naval Architecture and Offshore Engineering), Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, FKM, UTM
2. Bachelor of Engineering (Nuclear), Faculty of Chemical and Energy Engineering, FKT, UTM

The visit was conducted as part of the periodic evaluation process to ensure that UTM’s engineering programmes consistently maintain academic quality and meet the requirements of the industry and professional bodies.

The UTM Certified Program Accreditation Auditor Tier 1 Series 1/2025 course was held on 3rd and 4th June 2025. This training is conducted by Sr. Ir. Dr. Suhaimi bin Abdul Talib. This program aimed to equip participants with foundational knowledge and essential auditing skills required for evaluating academic programs in accordance with accreditation standards. The two-day session provided insightful guidance on audit procedures, documentation review, and quality assurance processes, enhancing participants’ competency and readiness to serve as program accreditation auditors within higher education institutions.

Opening Ceremony of the 451st ASEAN University Network – Quality Assurance (AUN-QA) Program Assessment Site Visit was held at the Senate Hall, Sultan Ibrahim Chancellery Building, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), Johor Bahru.

The ceremony began with a Welcoming Speech by the Acting Head of UTM Kuala Lumpur Branch, Prof. Dr. Shamsul Bin Sahibuddin, followed by Opening Remarks delivered by the AUN-QA representative, Assoc. Prof. Chavalit Wongse-ek.

The closing ceremony was held on 24th April 2025 at Hyatt Place, Paradigm Mall Johor Bahru, marking the successful completion of the assessment. The evaluation involved two academic programmes: the Master of Education (Educational Technology) from the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities (FSSH), and the Master of Science (Biotechnology) from the Faculty of Science (FS). The assessment aimed to ensure that both programmes align with regional and international quality standards. The rigorous evaluation process focused on curriculum design, teaching and learning, student support, and academic governance.

UTM ACe has organized a Workshop on Preparation for Academic Programme Assessment Using the ASEAN University Network – Quality Assurance (AUN-QA) Framework to ensure that faculties and centres are well-prepared to meet the requirements and criteria of international academic assessment standards. This initiative aims to enhance the overall quality of academic programmes by aligning them with globally recognized benchmarks. Through the workshop, participants were exposed to the structure, principles, and documentation needed to successfully undergo AUN-QA assessments.

The Workshop on the Review and Enhancement of the Internal Academic Quality Assurance (AIQA) UTM, held from 14 to 16 February 2025, aims to refine and update the existing academic IQA guidelines to ensure their continued relevance to the university’s current needs. It also seeks to identify best practices through expert consultation and reference to established documentation. Additionally, the workshop aspires to produce a comprehensive and user-friendly IQA document to reinforce the effective implementation of quality assurance measures at the institutional level.
