About UTM ACe
The University Quality Unit (UKU) was established in 2009 following UTM’s quality management system restructuring at the end of 2008, serving as the Secretariat to the UTM Quality Council and placed under the Chancellery. This restructuring also absorbed the Academic Quality Unit (UKA) and part of the functions of the System Management Division into UKU, which began operating on Level 3, Dewan Sultan Iskandar.
In 2014, UKU was merged with the Transformation and Risk Management Division (BTPR) and renamed UTM QRiM under the leadership of a Senior Director. This restructuring aimed to strengthen academic quality assurance, service quality, data management, and risk management to meet the needs of the university and its stakeholders.
In 1 October 2023, the University implemented a subsequent restructuring focused on enhancing internal quality assurance functions and academic development. Through this restructuring, UTM ACe (UTM Accreditation Centre) replaced UTM QRiM as the University’s Internal Quality Assurance (IQA) unit, with a more focused mandate on developing IQA guidelines and implementing academic programme quality evaluations. In line with this change, the Academic Programme Development and Implementation Division was transferred to UTM CAQ (UTM Curriculum and Academic Quality Centre) to strengthen academic quality management, curriculum coordination, and compliance with academic policies at the university level.

- Coordinating the University’s Self‑Accreditation Status Maintenance Audit.
- Conducting Provisional Accreditation, Full Accreditation, and Full Accreditation Compliance Evaluation for Academic Programmes.
- Coordinating Provisional Accreditation, Full Accreditation, and Accreditation Renewal Audits for Academic Programmes conducted by Professional Bodies.
- Conducting External Curriculum Review Evaluations.
- Monitoring the implementation of Internal Academic Quality Assurance through participation in JKKU, JKTS KKA, and Senate meetings.
- Conducting Location and Validation Audits for academic programmes offered off‑campus.
- Providing training for the University’s Internal Academic Programme Audit Panel.
- Coordinating international accreditation and global recognition initiatives.
